Charleston is like stepping back in time. Every street, row house and corner store has a story dating back a 100 or more years. I kept saying it was like Boston meets Florida as the colonial history is complemented with warm weather and palm trees. It is magical and unlike anywhere else in the U.S.
Bye, 25. Hello, 26.
I feel like 26 is a milestone. The reason this birthday feels significant didn't occur to me at first. I finally realized that it has been 10 years since I was 16. Sixteen was the first year I received my first dose of freedom.
My family and I headed to St. John for a 10-day vacation at the beginning of August. I have been to St. John once and have always wanted to go back. After years of talking about it, we finally planned a trip. The best way to share the details is by answering some of the most popular questions I have received since returning.
Getting back in the swing of updating my website. I go through waves of inspiration. This week I have five things I am trying, buying and loving.
For my 25th Birthday, I wanted to do something BIG. At my current job, I can rent one vacation rental a year for free as an employee perk. I decided on a place in Hawaii and recruited my college bestie to go with me who's birthday is also September 4. After planning the trip in only two months, we each invited one more person to round out the group to four. I invited my friend Meg from high school and Kendall recruited her past travel buddy, Marie. I wanted a go-with-the-flow group and this was it!
I am almost two years into my career (time flies!). While I love my current job, I am always looking to expand my current skill set and learn from new opportunities. I constantly evaluate my current position, my 5-year plan and my goals, to make sure my career continues down the right path.
I recently came across this awesome website called Career Contessa. It is an online career advice publication exclusively built by and for real women, to guide, inspire, and empower them to create careers they love, on their own terms. And, you gotta check it out. Here are a few of my favorite posts:
Taxes may not be the most exciting topic, but its important. This year was my first time filing my own taxes, and I was dreading it! Luckily, having all the right paperwork and a little guidance, filing taxes is easy!
Once you are out of school, family vacations change. You don't have scheduled breaks that determine your time off. With a job finding time for a family vacation can be difficult. My immediate family lives in four different cities. Coordinating a trip takes a lot of work and can cost a pretty penny. Plane tickets, meals and vacation activities, as well as a few hotel rooms to fit the whole family, can add up.
Create and Cultivate claims that it is a conference series and online platform for female entrepreneurs in the digital space. To me, it is so much more than that! It empowers women to take charge of their careers at any age. It is an uplifting and motivating experience chalk full of female empowerment.
Do you need to be an entrepreneur to attend? No. Do you need to be a blogger? Nope.
Recently, I went to Sunglass Hut to debate if I should drop $200 on new frames after my cheap sunnies from Target broke. When I was about to talk myself into buying my second pair of aviators, I wondered if I could just replace the lenses in the Ray-Ban frames I already have. To my surprise, I could!
You can order lenses from a Ray-Ban distributor for very cheap by calling Luxottica at 1-800-343-5594. All you need is the size, color code and frame type to order new authentic lenses for less than $25 a lens.
